About Us
Infertility is a disease of the reproductive system that results in the inability to conceive a child. It is commonly diagnosed after a couple has one year of unprotected and well-timed intercourse, or if the woman suffers from multiple miscarriages.
Infertility may be due to a single cause in either the male or the female, or a combination of factors that may prevent a pregnancy from occurring or continuing. Approximately 40 percent of infertility is attributed to a female factor, 40 percent to a male factor. The remainder of cases are due to problems in both partners or the cause of infertility cannot be explained.
According to the Center for Disease Control, 7.3 million women in the United States are affected by infertility, or approximately 12 percent of the population.
