Same Sex Parents

As one of the nation’s leading fertility pharmacies, we are proud to assist committed couples and adults of all sexual orientations on their path to parenthood. Village Fertility Pharmacy is dedicated to providing compassionate care and education to members of the GLBT community who would like to start their families with the help of third party reproduction therapies.

Our third party reproduction team is comprised of specially-trained pharmacists, registered nurses and patient care coordinators who have extensive experience working with an array of donors, gestational carriers (surrogates) and intended parents. We are committed to the success of your journey toward parenthood and are available to address your questions and concerns.

Your third party reproduction team will provide you, your partner, donors and/or gestational carriers with support, education and consultation throughout treatment. We understand the complex nature of these assisted reproductive therapies and are available to patiently assist you through the process.

Village Fertility Pharmacy also provides peace of mind by managing your prescriptions and refills to help reduce costs, while ensuring that the involved parties always have the medication they need, when they need it.

How can Village Fertility Pharmacy help?

When you invite Village Fertility Pharmacy to be a member of your third party reproduction team, you will be assigned a dedicated pharmacist, registered nurse and patient care coordinator to address your questions and concerns. These professionals are committed to partnering with you, your participating parties and your fertility clinic to provide the best customer service, pricing, education and support available, while protecting your anonymity through confidential billing.

We also offer free insurance consultations and will assist you with determining the most cost-effective method of purchasing your medications. Unfortunately, because same-sex couples are typically not deemed “infertile” by insurers, these therapies and the necessary medications may not be covered by your insurance company. If this is the case in your situation, Village Fertility Pharmacy can invite you to participate in the DesignRx Cash Network and the Ferring Heart Program, which are designed to reduce the cost of fertility medications for cash-paying individuals.

What you can expect

Depending on your situation and whether you intend to involve a donor or gestational carrier, your fertility doctor will prescribe the necessary fertility medications to the participating parties and either send the prescription directly to Village Fertility Pharmacy or provide a list of partnering pharmacies from which the medications can be requested.

Once the medications have been ordered through our pharmacy, they can be picked up at our Waltham, Mass., and Lincoln, RI, locations or be shipped discretely to a person’s home or office. When the package arrives, it should be opened immediately to determine if there are medications that need to be refrigerated. These medications will be clearly marked for patients' convenience.

Upon receipt of the medications, you and/or your participating parties will receive a call from one of our highly-skilled, third party reproduction team nurses who will provide an overview of those drugs and how to administer them. Any additional questions or concerns may be addressed at this time.

Most fertility patients’ and egg donors’ prescriptions and dosages can be altered at any time. Your fertility doctor will prescribe certain medications and conduct tests to monitor each patient’s progress throughout the medication cycle and, depending on the outcome of those tests, the dosages and medications may be changed at a moment’s notice.

To best prepare for these modifications to the treatment, it is imperative that the participating parties be aware of how much medication they have and communicate that information to the fertility doctor at all times. This will help both the individuals undergoing treatment and the fertility doctor anticipate future needs, allow for Village Fertility Pharmacy to provide medications in a timely manner and ensure that everyone has their medications when they need them, thus enhancing the possibility of a successful outcome.
