Village Fertility Pharmacy co-sponsors symposium for fertility professionals Feb. 25-28

01/13/2010

WALTHAM, Mass. – Village Fertility Pharmacy, a specialty pharmacy focused exclusively on infertility medications, is co-sponsoring an upcoming, three-day forum during which medical professionals will discuss new information and techniques pertaining to egg donation and third party reproduction.

Registration is now open for the 12th Annual ART of Donor Oocytes and Third Party Reproduction Conference, which will be held Feb. 25 to 28, 2010, at the Charleston Place Hotel in Charleston, S.C. As an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the California Board of Nursing, Village Fertility Pharmacy will provide contact hours for nurses attending the symposium. The South Carolina Medical Association will provide credits to physicians who attend the conference.

“We see how assisted reproductive technology techniques like third party reproduction have positively influenced our patients’ outcomes, so it’s important to us to help medical professionals and fertility experts stay abreast of the advancements in this field,” said Stuart Levine, pharmacist at and co-founder of Village Fertility Pharmacy.

The conference will focus on the technology of oocyte donation and third party reproduction in assisted reproductive technology. A nationally-recognized faculty will address the needs of nurses, reproductive endocrinologists, fellows, residents, laboratory professionals, and mental health professionals in this rapidly expanding segment of in-vitro fertilization.

Upon the conclusion of this symposium, participants will be able to:

  • Explain clinical, psychological and laboratory techniques to maximize success with third party reproduction
  • Debate current and future alternatives to third party reproduction
  • Relate and employ new knowledge into practice
  • Discuss legal aspects of third party reproduction

A mini symposium entitled “Donor Eggs 101” will be offered the evening before the conference begins. This event is designed to aid in the development of a new donor egg program. It will address the basics of egg donation, such as how to advertise for donors, the step-by-step donor screening process, synchronization of the donor and recipient, stimulations, embryology, and embryo transfer.

The conference is co-sponsored by Village Fertility Pharmacy, the South Carolina Medical Association, and the ART of Donor Oocytes and Third Party Reproduction.
